Diary of Caroline F. Morrill Brown, 1863-1870.

The diary, 1863 June through August, records her return home to Maine after living as a governess in Virginia, and her trips to see family and friends. Of interest are descriptions of Niagara Falls, a parade of Orangemen celebrating the Battle of the Boyne, and her account of nursing her brother George, a Union soldier, until his death from gangrene. From 1865-1870 the book was used as a journal of daily expenses following her marriage to Frank B. Brown. Recipes, poetry, cures, addresses and lists of callers are included.
